there any obligation if I send you some photos to look at?
NO - you are under
no obligation if you send me photos. I would love to look
at your photos and give you an idea of what sort of portrait could
be created. There is no charge whatsoever for this.

never heard of a money-back guarantee on commissioned artwork!
how do you do this?
I guarantee that I will create a beautiful
portrait based on the photos you supply, or you will get your money back. If I
find that I am unable to create a portrait that I am satisfied with, I will refund
100% of your money - the deposit, the shipping EVERYTHING! I have done this even
when I have spent hours and hours on the portrait. I will not send you a portrait
that is not up to my standards! If, however, I feel that I have created a wonderful
portrait, and you just don't like it because it isn't "what you thought it would
be" I will work on it and attempt to make it a reflection of your concept - but
I am not a mind-reader and cannot see what you see in your head. If you are still
not satisfied after seeing your portrait in person, I will refund your final payment
when you return the portrait to me, but not your original deposit. After receiving
your portrait, you have 3 days to contact me for any changes or if you are unsatisfied
with your portrait. If you do not contact me during this time, the deposit is
no longer refundable, although I will refund your second payment if you return
the painting to me.
this a REAL fine-art portrait?
Your portrait will
be a classic portrait created using time-honored techniques in
fine art. The materials I use are all archival professional grade.
If you ever have a problem with a portrait that you commission,
please let me know and I will take care of it. I've even fixed
portraits that got accidentally damaged, usually for no charge
Oil or Acrylic portraits
are usually done on a high quality gallery-wrap canvas - there
are no staples visible on the sides or back. Let me know
and I can paint the sides and the canvas may be hung unframed,
if you like. They can also be painted on a wooden panel, which
is more stable when there are humidity & temperature changes.
are painted on very high quality archival paper - usually 150-300
created on archival sanded paper, velour or pastel paper, depending
on which I think is most appropriate for the subject.
How long does a portrait
art takes time. I stay pretty booked up but I work on a number
of portraits at the same time. This allows me to spend a lot of
time on each portrait and to be able to objectively view the portrait
as it develops. Because of this, I usually start on your painting
within a few days or weeks of the time that you approve the layout.
Normally a portrait takes between two to eight weeks to complete,
but that is because I let it "rest" between sessions
so I can get a more objective view of it. I can shorten the time
in most cases.
here to to see if there is time to create a portrait
HAVE to have the portrait right away - can you rush it?
YES - If you
are getting a pastel or watercolor, I can ship a completed portrait
to you in as little as two weeks if I can work it into my schedule,
EVEN OILS can be rushed. If I am fully booked up, it may not be
possible. I will try to work it out as best I can. If you need
the portrait for a certain date, please be sure to tell me
when you first talk to me about it.
I have recently begun
using a new oil paint that dries on demand, so it's possible to
produce even archival oil paintings at the last minute.
if I don't like the portrait when you're finished?
You have 5 days after
receiving your portrait during which you can decide if you like
your portrait. If you are not happy with it, I will either modify
it to your satisfaction, or you will get 100% of your money back!
After the 5 day period, you may still return the portrait and
have your second payment refunded, but will not recieve your initial
is the deadline to order a portrait for Christmas?
Watercolor & Pastels
may be ordered until practically the last minute; Oil portraits
take a bit longer because they have to dry before they can be
shipped. It really depends on my schedule and whether I have time
to do your portrait. I hate to have anyone disappointed, so
here to and see if I can work you in. If you would
like a portrait for a special occasion, and it is too late, I
can provide you with a beautiful certificate representing the
portrait which can be presented with the promise of a gorgeous
portrait to come!

Can I have reproductions
or notecards made of my portrait? Who owns the copyright? Do I
have to give you permission to display the artwork?
Artists retain copyright
of all artwork they create. This means that when you purchase
or commission artwork, the artist is the only person who can authorize
copies, including photographs, notecards, and even display on
a website. I am very happy to allow you to showcase your portrait
on your website, but you are not allowed to reproduce it in any
way without permission. I can create notecards and prints of your
portrait, or some other artwork on the site. If you are interested
in ordering a print of your own artwork or of anything you see
on the website, please
here to . Although I retain copyright, I do not reproduce
your portrait as prints or notecards without discussing it with
you first. However, I may use it as an example on my site. Even
this will not be done if you object.
