You can use either traditional photos or digital photos. I can work (and have) from a single "pretty bad" photo . . . . Particularly in the case of an portrait of a departed loved one, I can work from just about any photo. If you have a favorite photo, I'm sure I can create a beautiful portrait for you.

If you have the opportunity to take new photos of your subject, I can help you get the best photographs of your subject. Click here to see examples and photography suggestions.

A portrait will show the luminous colors of your chosen subject, so one picture must have correct coloring. This "color reference" can even be an ad from a magazine, just something that has the correct coloring for the subject. The better the photographs, the more detail can be put into the portrait.

Make sure you include your name, address and phone number with the photos. If it is a surprise gift for someone, be sure to tell me with whom I can safely discuss this painting! I wouldn't want to spoil the surprise!

When I receive your photos, I will email you and we can discuss the size and type of portrait you would like to commission. I will draw up a possible portrait designs and email them to you, or post them on a private page for you to view. You chose the one you like. Here is an example of a client's private page.

While I am painting the portrait, it may be possible for you to watch the progress online.

I generally ship portraits unframed, so that you may chose the frame that complements the painting and your décor. For a fee, I can frame your painting if you wish.

PORTRAITS FROM MULTIPLE PHOTOS

Many artists will not attempt to combine more than one photograph to create an portrait.
This is my specialty! Most of the portraits that I paint are composed of 2 or more separate photos. In creating an oil portrait of a group of uncooperative animals, I have worked from as many as 8 separate photos to acheive a unified beautiful portrait. You would never know that the animals weren't all just posed perfectly!

You may EMAIL me pictures to plan the portrait from and to find out how much a portrait would cost.

A fully-refundable deposit of 50% is required when you approve the portrait layout or initial drawing.

I guarantee that I will create a beautiful portrait based on the photos you supply, or you will get your money back. If I find that I am unable to create a portrait that I am satisfied with, I will refund 100% of your money - the deposit, the shipping EVERYTHING! I have done this even when I have spent hours and hours on the portrait. I will not send you a portrait that is not up to my standards! If, however, I feel that I have created a wonderful portrait, and you just don't like it because it isn't "what you thought it would be" I will work on it and attempt to make it a reflection of your concept - but I am not a mind-reader and cannot see what you see in your head. If you are still not satisfied after seeing your portrait in person, I will refund your final payment when you return the portrait to me, but not your original deposit. After receiving your portrait, you have 3 days to contact me for any changes or if you are unsatisfied with your portrait. If you do not contact me during this time, the deposit is no longer refundable, although I will refund your second payment if you return the painting to me.

For local clients, final payment for a portrait is due when the portrait is picked up. For others, final payment is due prior to portrait shipment.

Payment may be made in cash, money order, or check, or you may pay by credit card through PayPal. (Please do not send cash by mail.)
