Howdy From Texas!

Ok, well, I know you signed up to hear from me when I put new artwork on the site. Some of you signed up years ago LOL - I sure hope you've been checking the site once in a while, because I've put up a few things, but I haven't written a letter since 2004. I just hate to send out emails when I know you get so many in your inbox already.

Since it has been so long since I wrote a newsletter, allow me to introduce myself! I am Liz, the artist behind "A Portrait For You" and I'm finally sending out a newsletter!

It's been a rather eventful time since the last email. First of all on a sad note, those of you who got my newsletter in the past might remember Ruby. She was my flat-coated retreiver - cocker spaniel mix who patiently observed my painting process. She was a very intelligent dog who laid behind my easel, and got up once in a while to check my painting and see if I've done enough work to justify taking a break and throwing a ball for her. She passed away December of last year and I am 'dogless' for the first time in my life. I am just about ready for a new puppy, and would love to find another flat-coated retriever mix, as Ruby was the best dog I've ever met. I miss her terribly.

Here are a couple of my favorite new dog portraits!

I am very grateful to those of you who have made the decision to devote your life to helping and protecting others. In recognition of this, to members of the military, law enforcement, fire and rescue personel, I offer discounts on portraits that you commission. Additionally, if you know of anyone fallen in the line of duty, human or animal, I will create a graphite or charcoal portrait at absolutely no charge, for a member of their family or organization.

Here are a couple of my favorite new cat portraits! I notice that in all the portraits of cats, they're lying around . . . . . must be a nice life!
